Salons and Comic-Cons
I'm getting ready for the big San Diego Comic-Con International next week. Just like everyone else in the industry my life is now turmoil. All of the work that had been delayed two weeks ago arrived late last week. That in addition to finding a new kennel, pricing original art, and getting a decent haircut. Gahhh!
It should be great fun. But I'll be tied to a table most of the time, so I won't be able to see the sights. Come down if you get the chance! I'll be in Artists' Alley at table II-13.
If you can't make it because you're trapped in Europe, you can at least see some of my original artwork. I sent a pile of some of the finest stuff over to the Salon do Comic de Cangas. It's an incredibly laid back beach town with truly spectacular seafood. I love San Diego, but the Gaslamp District doesn't have fishing boats pulling in two blocks away from the restaurant you're eating at. Cangas also has the most open hearted folks you're likely to meet. It's a great place.

And here's another preview of some stuff I'm bringing. This is a cover I've done for Dynamite Entertainment's Red Sonja. They requested some changes, but I pasted the changes in Photoshop. The original art is unchanged.

I based this original drawing on the 1970s Marvel Comics Sonja, and on the work of other artists on the DE series. Understandably, they'd like the character on the cover to be the same as the character on the inside.

So buy the comic if you'd like to see the final version colored by Art Lyon!
