The Forty-Niners

Here's a small taste for all you patient Alan Moore fans out there.

The first image is the new cover.

I've thrown in two images from the interior. I tried to pick things that don't give away too much of the plot. Alan being Alan, he figures out some nice surprises.

If you've ever been to the UK, you know what Spotted Dick is. It's every bit as horrible as itsounds.

Adventures of Superman

A fun set of covers for Eddie Berganza. Formerly my first assistant editor boss, he's now boss of the whole Spitcurl line!

For cover 627, I photographed myself in jockey shorts. I'd considered posting the reference photo, but it's far too embarassing.

628 was a Matt Wagner cover. He also did a Wonder Woman and Batman cover.

For 629, I photographed my wife half naked. This one was much more fun to shoot than 627. Unfortunately, DC has nixed this cover! So this may be the only place you get to see it.

630 is my hand and me as Superman. I don't look at all like Clark Kent, but I'm too cheap too hire a real model.

631 was a reference nightmare. I can only hope and pray that the Arabic writing says something close to what I intended.

632 was crazy easy.

633 went well. In the design sheet for the two kids, it said that the costumes were the same color as the kids. So I gave them caucasian skin toned suits. It turned out that the kids are purple and green, so I had to recolor them. Sheesh.

634 was supposed to go more smoothly. But after I inked the cover, it turned out that the Daily Planet had been redesigned in that very issue. So I had to redraw the whole building. It was a bother, but it did allow me to see the pencils by Lee Bermejo. Lee is the next Gene Ha, mark my words. He's got me a-quakin' in my boots, folks. The kid is good.

The Captain America Covers (issues 17-20)

Thanks as ever to Art Lyon for separations work.

I really enjoy drawing Captain America. I like the boldness and simplicity of the costume, I like the scales, I like that you can see his real eyes.
